Wireless Charging Safety Comparison: 100KHz vs 6.78MHz

WiBotic put two wireless battery charging systems to the test, specifically focusing on their safety when exposed to foreign metal objects. We compare a standard 100KHz wireless charging solution against the WiBotic 6.78MHz system, examining their heating behaviors with small and medium-sized metal objects like screws and scissors. Both systems were run at a comparable power output of 230W and were charging the same lithium ion polymer batteries. We ran each system for around 2 minutes and the results were suprising!

The 100KHz system caused smaller objects to reach temperatures of 60-70°C, and larger objects, like scissors, reached over 100°C—temperatures that could damage equipment or pose safety risks. Meanwhile, the WiBotic 6.78MHz system kept foreign objects near room temperature (20-30°C), ensuring safer charging conditions for robots in dynamic environments.

Another notable advantage of the WiBotic 6.78MHz system is its ability to maintain higher power transfer across a larger air gap, adding extra flexibility for robotics applications. Discover why this makes the WiBotic solution a robust, safe, and efficient option for charging autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and other industrial robotic fleets.

WiBotic Selected as a Semi-Finalist at AUVSI’s Startup Showdown

WiBotic has been selected as a semi-finalist in AUVSI’s “Startup Showdown,” a contest between early stage companies providing solutions to the autonomous vehicle market. Sponsored by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the Showdown will occur during the annual Xponential tradeshow at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, TX from May 8-11, 2017.

Chosen from over 65 entrants, the sixteen semi-finalists receive complimentary booth space at the show and exposure to attendees via the Showdown website and additional onsite exposure. All semi-finalists will compete in a live-pitch Knockout Round on May 9th, from which, three finalists will be chosen to present their technology and application in the Final Round on May 10th. The winner receives a cash prize and significant additional recognition throughout Xponential. For more details, visit the Startup Showdown webpage.

“We are honored that WiBotic was selected to be a semi-finalist in the Startup Showdown at Xponential” said Ben Waters, CEO of WiBotic. “Our wireless charging and battery management technology addresses the entire autonomous vehicle industry (aerial, mobile, and aquatic) and we’re excited to showcase our capabilities at Xponential.”

WiBotic will be exhibiting in the Startup Showdown Pavilion along with the other semi-finalists in Booth 3430-E.
